No excuses.

Saturday 31 May 2014

Hey guys,
So May has been crazy, and my promise of a blog post every day of the month didn't go as well as I planned. Over the next couple of day I will attempt to put up some extra posts that didn't get put up this month, as I really wanted to achieve this challenge.

So over the next few days I will be finishing off May madness with a collection of posts that I had planned by didn't write.

Study Tips.

Tuesday 27 May 2014

Hey guys,

So I am in the middle of assessment season at University and even though I should be doing work, I am taking a much needed break to do something else for a little while. So here are some of my personal favourite study tactics for when I have work to be done.

1. Pace yourself.
I find it useful to have working periods. So study or work on something for a certain amount of time(i.e 30 minutes), then reward yourself with a break(i.e equal or less amount of time). I find that this keeps me motivated and helps me concentrate whilst I am doing work.

2. Take notes.
Take a ton of notes, especially if you need them for a future assessment or essay. Taking notes is the best way to remember what you are learning and a good way to track things later down the line.

3. Break fun.
When you take you breaks do something that has nothing to do with your work. It will keep you concentrating on your work when you get back to it, and will also help you not overthink it when you are on your break.

4. Don't give up.
Try not to give up in the middle of things. If you start not finishing things you may form a habit of doing so. Even when things get hard try not to drop what you are doing and leave it alone. It will be much more satisfying when you finish, opposed to when you leave it uncompleted.

5. Highlight the crap out of stuff.
I am a crazy person with a highlighters and notes. I don't know what it is, but I cant help myself when it comes to highlighting this. It's a good way to remember things and also a good way to find important things when you are studying later on.

6. Keep organised.
Organising you stuff makes things easier to find latter on down the track. Keep things order and in a system that will help you find what you need faster.

Defying Gravity with Wicked.

Sunday 25 May 2014

Hey guys,

So anyone that knows me will tell you that I am the biggest fan of musical theatre. I always have been and hope to always be so. Ever since I was a little kid I have been going and seeing musicals, and being way too excited about it, without any shame f course.

So with Wicked being in town at the moment, I jumped at the chance to go and see it again.

Wicked is one of my favourite musicals, I absolutely loved it the first time and was so happy that I got to see it again. It was possibly better than the first time I saw i a few years ago in Sydney.

Even though there has been some changes in cast, since I saw it originally, they still have the fantastic two leads, who I got to see last time. And who I also adore so very much.

The Regent Theatre is absolutely gorgeous, and has some beautiful architecture inside and out. It was the first time I had been inside and its beauty is breath taking.

I  was so glad to have the chance to go and watch it again, and in the future I will continue to go and see productions of it and my other favourite musicals. I just need to figure out what I will go and see next.

Monash Gallery of Art.

Saturday 24 May 2014

Hey guys,

So the other day I was lucky enough to go to the MGA(Monash Gallery of Art) and have a look at one of their current exhibitions.

For one of my current photography assignments I needed to go and see a current photographic exhibition, and this was the only place that was open on my free day.

One of the galleries held 'The Rennie Eliis Show'. These amazing photographs contained a collection of photos from the 1970s-90s of Australian culture. This collection of photos looked amazing and really captured the Australian culture.

The video screens held three separate collections of photos, which varied across the three.

When I finished looking I went home and later on got to watch the beautiful sunset.

Trouble writing.

Hey guys,

So my lucky with this blogging thing isn't going so well for this month. I wake up every morning with the energy and self encouragement to write a post and then it flops, which means I now have to catch up on posting blogs so I have 31 posts this month.

So I think I may be over the hole I put myself in and can finally pull myself together and write a large collection of post over the next week so I can get up to that number.

So here goes.

Study, play and enjoy the day.

Monday 19 May 2014

Hey guys,
So I have discovered recently that the only way for me to not go insane while studying, is to balance out my time with fun additions.

Spending equal amounts of time having fun, as I have studying, means that I am not driving myself crazy, staring at a piece of paper or some text that needs to be read.
This goes for many things, always make time for a little bit of fun, even if it is only a small break, just don't get to caught up in the fun, make sure all your study gets finished as well.

Even though winter is just around the corner, for us in Australia, it's still important to enjoy the day, whether it's inside or out. Break up your studying and you will feel better about everything, or at least I do.

My adventure kit.

Saturday 17 May 2014

Hey guys,

So I have a tendency to wander around and explore when I am out and about, so I always love to carry a few certain things with me when I do so. Here is a list of things that I like to take with me when I go out and explore the world.

1. A bag.
This has to be big enough to fit everything in it that you need to carry with you. It also comfortable enough to carry around all day.

2. A book.
I always like to carry a book no matter where I am, just in case I need to pass some time, or am on public transport.

3. A camera.
Always having a camera on you a good way capturing things. My personal favourite is a DSLR Cannon 60D or a Olympus Tough. When I have to do photography assignments I will often use a Nikon f-601, but thats because I have to use film, so it was the only camera I could get my hands on that used film.

4. A notepad and pen.
For note taking and ideas, this is another thing I alway try to carry with me as I never know when I will need to write something down.

5. My Nintendo DS.
For alternate entertainment when I have time to spare, I like to carry it around. It currently contains Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which is my game of the moment.

6. Some water.
Stay hydrated.

7. Headphones.
Again for the long trip if you have to catch public transport, it seems to go faster when you have music to listen to.

8. Sunglasses.
Mainly when it's sunny, good protection for your eyes.

Thats mostly it. with the occasional addition, but they are the main things that get put in my bag on days when I plan to adventure.

Food, a Farm and Friends.

Thursday 15 May 2014

Hey guys,
So my having a life life also means catching up with friends who come down to visit, which I love. And this past weekend I had one of my lovely friends from home come down and we spent a fantastic day together.

My friend Ollie always seems to find unique places for us to go and to eat at, which on this day meant us going to Abbotsford Convent. A beautiful piece of land, that you can wonder around and eat some delicious food. We ended up going to Lentil As Anything, a vegetarian/vegan restaurant that works in a buffet style. You can choose form all of the food lined up and then when you are finished you pay what you think it earned. The food was really fantastic and I will defiantly be going back again.

The cool thing about this place is that it also has a farm attached to it, which is one of my favourite things. So here is a photo of a cow and some distant sheep.

It was a great day and it was good catching up with someone from home. Plus the convent was really pretty and relaxing, so I hope to get the chance to get back there soon.

Melbourne walkabout.

Wednesday 14 May 2014

Hey guys,
Over the weekend I got to enjoy a lovely walkabout through the streets of Melbourne, whilst I completed a photography assignment.

Melbourne is one of my favourite places in the world and wondering around in the city is an amazing adventure. There are so many undiscovered things that one can only find when they are truly wondering. All the marvellous alleys and side streets filled with odds and ends.
This is why I love it here so much.

Melbourne is a city that has so much life to it. It's so artistic and eclectic, and I am happy to wander for hours, if it means I get to see this side of it.

Exhaustion, assignments and a sore foot.

Hey guys,
My grandest of apologies for not having blogged this weekend. I have had a crazy busy weekend, finishing assignments and needing to do things for some of my classes. But I have been noting down the posts that I have been meaning to do so that I can keep up my promise for a blog post for everyday of the month of May.
Now I know that I said that I would post one everyday, but my work load at uni just got crazy. So I am changing that promise, there will at least be a post for everyday this month. That means there will be 31 blog post this month, That I can keep up.

So lets talk about something else. This weekend just gone was crazy. Filled with a pile of assignments and small things that I needed to do. So much stuff has been done that it seems that I have pulled a muscle in my foot, which hurts a ton.

So lets get on with the blog posts that I have missed.

Project get outside.

Saturday 10 May 2014

Hey guys,
So this morning I decided I need to get outside more. On day when I done have any classes I have a tendency to not leave the house and sometimes even barely leave my room. So i decided that this has to change.

I am making myself the promise of leaving my house everyday and doing something. Whether its going for a walk, or going to the shops. Just as long as I don't spend all my free days doing nothing at all in my room except watching TV on my computer.

What am I going to be doing in these outside adventures, well here is a small list
- Find a park to sit in
- Go for a walk
- Go into the city/ somewhere else be tram or bus
- Do fun activities.

Thats really all for today, I need to get back to writing an essay due Monday.

5am is not a good time.

Hey guys,
So my apologies for not blogging for the past two days, they have been busy and crazy and full of stuff that I really needed to do. But I have a couple of days off this week and I will be doubling up my posts.

No I am not writing this at 5am, but I did wake up at 5am this morning and it was not fun. So lets talk about it.

There is something weird about being awake at that hour of the day. People are still asleep so the roads are nearly empty except for those few who start work early. The city is still asleep and still has all its lights on, so it shines, even when nobody is watching. It pretty and glamorous and almost like a hidden treasure, that not many people get to see.

Whilst 5am is too early for e to be awake I was, and driving at that time(dropping people at the airport) was fascinating and something almost magical.

5am still isn't a good time, but it is a pretty time, so I might hate it generally, but seeing its beauty almost makes me love it.

Notice the ground beneath your feet.

Monday 5 May 2014

Hey guys,
So last month I set myself the challenge to take a  photo of the ground beneath my feet every day of the month.
Well here it finally is. It took me a few extra days, but it is here.

Here are 28(yes I know there are 30 days in April) photos for the month of April.

Why did I do this? So I would take notice of my surroundings and pay attention to the things around me.
