Healesville Sanctuary

Monday, 21 September 2015

Over the weekend I took a much needed break from all of my work and headed out for an adventure on Sunday. One of my roommates had asked me earlier on in the week if I wanted to go to Healesville Sanctuary with her and one of her friends.

Being an animal lover, I instantly agreed.

Healesville sanctuary is a wildlife park that specialises in Australian native animal. Since my roommate and her friend are both international students, they wanted to go and check it out and even take part in one of the up close encounters with some of the animals.

Having picked a surprisingly sunny day, we headed out early as it would take us about an hour to reach the park. Upon arrival, we got a tad lost (having relied on google maps) and were sent in the right direction by one of the keepers.

Once there we roamed the sanctuary and took in as many of the animals as we could. With the occasional fun fact from me about the animals, the the others girls didn't know. I think by the end of the day they were glad that they weren't from Australia, with our dangerous animals that hide around every corner. Especially after seeing the worlds most venomous snake, and one that we kinda proudly call our own here down under.

The encounter that we got was with some of the dingo's they have at the sanctuary. I, being a dog person, was very excited about that. They were two of the sweetest animals in the world and were happy (as you can see above) to give you kisses. Something that I miss from my work back home.

It was a nice adventure and an enjoyable day. I really love being able to see the native animals and never get tired of being able to spend time around them.

I would like to thank my roommate Leonie for suggesting the idea and also letting me use some of the awesome photos she took of the day. I was so honoured to be able to share this day with her and her friend, and to see their amazement of the weird and wonderful animals we have here.

100th Blog Post!!!

Friday, 21 August 2015

We are finally here! My 100th blog post. This has taken me some time to post for some reason, even though I have nothing special planned for this post. But we are here now and that's what's important.

So like I mentioned above, I have nothing special planned for tis post. I probably should have planned something, but I think it's best at the moment that I just do a quick post and share some of my favourite moments from the past 99 posts.

Thank you all so much for reading, lets have some fun with the future 100 posts.

Keep being wonderful!

Family beach trip.

Monday, 18 August 2014

Hey guys,
So I got a little break recently and got to spend a bit of time with my family, on a small holiday. Which was actually quite great, it was a much needed break before the craziness of my second semester and its assignments hit.

My aunt lives by the beach so we climbed into the car with the dog and had a fun little day out of the city and by the sea. It was nice to have a bit of sunshine on the coast, compared to the cold and rainy weather of Melbourne.

Food, a Farm and Friends.

Thursday, 15 May 2014

Hey guys,
So my having a life life also means catching up with friends who come down to visit, which I love. And this past weekend I had one of my lovely friends from home come down and we spent a fantastic day together.

My friend Ollie always seems to find unique places for us to go and to eat at, which on this day meant us going to Abbotsford Convent. A beautiful piece of land, that you can wonder around and eat some delicious food. We ended up going to Lentil As Anything, a vegetarian/vegan restaurant that works in a buffet style. You can choose form all of the food lined up and then when you are finished you pay what you think it earned. The food was really fantastic and I will defiantly be going back again.

The cool thing about this place is that it also has a farm attached to it, which is one of my favourite things. So here is a photo of a cow and some distant sheep.

It was a great day and it was good catching up with someone from home. Plus the convent was really pretty and relaxing, so I hope to get the chance to get back there soon.

St Kilda adventure.

Sunday, 6 April 2014

Hey guys,
Today I went on a little adventure, the first of it's kind this time round, to one of my favourite places in Melbourne, St Kilda. I mainly did this because I have a photography assignment due this coming week and thought St Kilda would be a good place to take photos. But the main reason is because I love it there.
I took with me my trusted bag, full of things to explore with, and my camera loaded with 35mm film, yes that's that old school stuff. And ventured off into the sunshine.

Armed with my bag I hopped on the tram and hoped not to get lost. This was my first time going to St Kilda from this direction of Melbourne, so I figured that I would most likely get lost. Which I did. I had to switch trams half way, and didn't know which side of the road the other tram stopped at. So I missed it. But the good thing was that this was the only hick-up of the day.

Eventually I got to St Kilda and got to enjoy it in the sun.
I walked along the beach and slowly made my way along my favourite markets, gazing at the wonders that were being sold, but not being able to buy much, besides a ring from a stall I love and some carmel fudge.

I managed to get everything I needed for my assignment, as well as enjoy being back there, for the first time this year.

I then had to meet up with  my cousin in the city, so I hopped on another tram and headed into the city, stopping at south bank. I walked along the river and enjoyed the sun and the general atmosphere of the area. And met my cousin at a cut little restaurant under a bridge, where we ate food and caught up.

This is one thing that I love about living in Melbourne. Things like this, and days like these.
