Something about summer.

Sunday 21 December 2014

Hey guys,
We have finally reached the summer months here in Australia. Whilst some people in the world get to celebrate christmas with weather that complements the festiveness, we celebrate the time of year in the warmth.

Now to be fair I can't complain, I have only experienced one 'white christmas', but even that wasn't quite the same as some of the picturesque scenes that one see around this time of year. So I don't really have anything to compare it with. I do still enjoy being able to be in the warmth and even though we miss out on some cool christmas things(christmas jumpers), I think it would be weird to spend christmas any other way to me.

So whilst some of you might be wishing for warmer weather I thought I might share some summer photos that I took on a hike, with my wonderful puppy.

I hope you guys are having a wonderful time wherever in the world you are. And that you are enjoying the weather.

A Restless Soul.

Wednesday 10 December 2014

Hey guys,

I am finding now that I am growing up that I have a restless soul. I feel the constant need to do things and move around and be out and about. I feel as if just sitting in one place for to long makes me bored and fidgety, like I crave being in the move and doing things.

I'm not sure if this is mean't to be a part of growing up, the constant need for movement and adventure, but it is a feeling that I quite enjoy.

My adventurous mind is growing wild and the fire in my heart yearns for something more. More adventure, more travel and more creative things to feed it.

My younger self used to be afraid of such change and hid away from anything that could throw off the balance and comfort of a life I had grown accustomed to. But now it shines at the idea. And now I know that I truly have changed since I am accepting these parts of my life. I look back now, in wonder, at a person who dealt with thing differently and couldn't handle change. It amazing how much one person can grow in just a year.

With 2014 coming to an end I can say that I have achieved may things that I never would have dreamed of. From taking a gigantic and crazy change that moved me away from my comfort zone. To the smaller things, like trying out new things that I would have dreaded before.

This restless soul of mine is finally falling into place.

How has this year changed you?

What have you done that you never would have dreamed of doing in the past?

I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season. See you soon.

The Fear.

Thursday 20 November 2014

Hey guys,

I haven't been posting much recently and I couldn't quite figure out why I was putting it off. Not writing about things and putting out posts. It wasn't pure procrastination or my general laziness, it also wasn't a lack of things that I could possibly write about. I wasn't sure what exactly what it was.

Then the realisation hit me the other day that maybe I was giving into my fears. Something that happens to me when I start to doubt myself. When a collection of negative thoughts start to pile up in my head and I start doubt everything in my life, including everything that I do and why I do it.

I guess you could say that I hate this fear, but hate is a strong word and not one to be used lightly. Maybe I detest it, but I strangely also crave it, considering it's a problem I have always seemed to have.

I felt like I needed to get it out and explain a little, so thats why I wrote this post.

Hopefully I will be getting back into the swing of things and like promised will be bringing more content to this blog. Now that my fears have calmed down a bit I should be able to get more posts out and put up the new ideas for series of posts that I have planned.

I hope you are all well.

Uni 2014 Rewind.

Tuesday 28 October 2014

Hey guys,
So a few weeks ago I officially finished my first year of university and I had planned on writing this blog sooner, but I got lazy and busy. So I thought I would write it now.

Here is to the year that has passed. To the people I have met and become friends with. To the memories that I will hold close for the rest of my life.

I have met a bunch of amazing people that I will hopefully get to know better over the next few years. I have gained new friends and have found a bunch of people who I enjoy spending time with. These people have taught me so many new lessons and even some that I needed to be reminded of. I will cherish the small moments of joy that I have found.

This year and going to university was a grand adventure for me, and I am glad that I took this opportunity and ran with it, instead of backing down and giving up on something new and different. I have had so many great adventure, that I will keep in my mind forever.

This year has been great and interesting and at times crazy. I would never turn back and undo the decisions I have made.

The Study Life.

Thursday 16 October 2014

Hey guys,
So I have officially finished my first year of university, having just finished all of my assignments that were due. I am finally free for the next couple of months to have fun and do whatever I want really.

So since I have finished I thought I would do a couple of posts focusing on the past 9 months of my life. So I will be doing a few university related posts.

Todays one will be about my previous crazy assignment week.

Doing an arts course means that I don't have to do exams. I unfortunately have to do double the mount of assignments. Meaning that my last week of  uni work consisted of me working on back to back assignments, all due one after the other.

Here are just a few photos I took during the week, mostly when I was bored or wanted to procrastinate, which was quite often.

I hope everyone is doing well. And those of you about to sit you end of year exams are doing okay.

September rewind 2014.

Sunday 28 September 2014

Hey guys,
It's hard to believe that September is nearly over. This year feels as if it's flown past, and I'm not quite ready for it to end yet. This ones going to be short today as I haven't much to talk about.

Not much happened in September, mainly because I have been super busy with uni work and assignments. But I have also been taking time to enjoy the little things and getting outside into the fresh air, especially since it is finally warming up in Melbourne.

I also have no photos to share as, once again, I haven't really done much outside of uni. And nothing super exciting has been going on.

Next week is my uni hell week as I have four assignments due next week, but then things will calm down and I can do more fun things.

Sick day

Sunday 21 September 2014

Hey guys,
So I have been sick for the past few days, which totally sucks, but I thought I would share with you guys what I do when I am sick.

I like to spend the day in bed with my laptop, a notebook and pens, and some things to read. And I make sure to get comfortable, because being sick is no fun, so why not be comfy.

I also drink a large amount of tea and wear the warmest, comfiest clothes I can find. Whilst writing this I am drinking peppermint tea because its one of my favourites.

I hope you guys are all well and not feeling like you have been hit like a bus, like I did yesterday. And if you are sick, I hope you get better soon.

September Update 2014.

Thursday 11 September 2014

Hey guys,
So September marks the last full month of my first year of university, which is super exciting. It also means that it is officially spring in Australia, although I think someone should tell Melbourne that because it's still super cold here somedays. And it also means that soon it will be summer, which I can't wait for. So I thought I would just do a few small updates on things.

1. Things will be getting busy for me over the next few months as I have 7 assignments left to finish off before I can truly be on holidays. Which is not something I will be looking forward to doing. I hate assignments.

2. With my soon to be found freedom in fourish weeks time I will be able to get out more and do some fun and adventurous things around Melbourne, which I haven't been able to do yet. Which I plan to post about when I can.

3. I plan on introducing a few new blog series on here. Which will hopefully start in October and will include things like my monthly favourites and maybe a monthly book club or something, in which I share my favourite things and books or whatever. I will also be continuing the 50 faces project when I get home to Sydney in November.

4. More free time means more adventures and blog posts, so once all my work is finished for the year I should hopefully be blogging a bit more.

5. Summers coming up so I hope to have some fun adventures plan to share with you guys. I just need to figure out what they will be.

6. October will also be a month of relaxation for me as once my assignments are finished I will need a little bit of down time to relax and chill out a bit so that should be fun.

I hope you are all having a wonderful day,
xx Kat

Nature is good.

Saturday 30 August 2014

Hey guys,

I'm really writing this post as a way of procrastinating my way around doing three assignments for uni at the moment. Considering I will do anything to avoid working on them for a few hours.

The weather has started to get warmer in Melbourne even though it's still technically winter, but I'm not going to complain, I love warm weather, almost as much as I love winter(yes I'm one of those people). And with the sun being out it means that I have been able to take my procrastination outdoors and into the fine nature that surrounds me.

So I thought I would share some of the awesome nature that is around me.

Look at that mighty fine blue sky.

The weather was on point today.

This burst of warm weather has me really excited for summer, I can't wait for it.

Now I should get back to work, not that I want to.
xx Kat.

Family beach trip.

Monday 18 August 2014

Hey guys,
So I got a little break recently and got to spend a bit of time with my family, on a small holiday. Which was actually quite great, it was a much needed break before the craziness of my second semester and its assignments hit.

My aunt lives by the beach so we climbed into the car with the dog and had a fun little day out of the city and by the sea. It was nice to have a bit of sunshine on the coast, compared to the cold and rainy weather of Melbourne.

July Rewind 2014

Friday 1 August 2014

Hey guys,
I can't believe that it's already August, it feels like this year has gone by so fast. Since it's two days into August I thought I better post y July rewind of my favourite moments from July up.

I was lucky enough to be on holidays for most of July and got to see all my friends and celebrate some big birthdays. I also got to see snow on the slopes on my way back to Melbourne, which was a pretty spectacular sight. But it is also nice to be back and getting back into the swing of uni work.

So here it is.

How cool does that snow look!

And this cake looked amazing and tasted even better!

I hope you guys are all having a great day,
xx Kat

Face 1/50: Mum(Helen)

Friday 25 July 2014

The first person in my 50 Faces Project goes to my mother.
The one person who has always been there for me and who is always ready to take my side when things aren't going so well. She has always been a helping hand and seems to know how to cheer me up and when to do so, even if I don't say anything to her.

She means the world to me and I wouldn't trade here for anyone, even when she does her things to embarrass me, like every parent does.

She has taught me some of the greatest lessons that I have learn't in life and I will carry these with me for the rest of my life, knowing that those wise words came from her.

I love her and wouldn't be able to live each day without her by my side through thick and thin.

Finding the unique in an ordinary place.

Tuesday 22 July 2014

Hey guys,
so I was going through some photos that I took last month whilst I was at home for the holidays and found a small collection that I had forgotten about. They were taken at a small pub near where I live and are of a collection of unique things that littered this place.

They are mostly a bunch of eclectic pieces that work together to bring a certain homeliness to the place and I thought I would share these unique findings with you all. Mainly because I found them to be quite unique and special.

I just found something peaceful about the collection of pieces.
