A tropical summer vacation in Fiji.

Tuesday 17 December 2013

Hey guys,
So summer has hit Sydney and so I decided to have a bit of a tropical, island holiday with my best friend of 17 years. A few months ago we decided that we wanted to get out of Sydney for a week and just find a place to relax and unwind, after a long year of things we had overcome.

So at 7o'clock on Friday the 6th of December we headed to the airport and started our half a day journey to Fiji's Nadi international airport. One plus side of picking Fiji is that it didn't really throw out our sleeping patterns as they are only two hours ahead of Sydney, But it still meant we lost some time of our Friday.

Once we landed we headed straight to the resort we were staying at. On the hour long drive I took in the surrounding landscape. It reminded me a lot of my time on Samoa, which I went on a school trip to 5 years ago. The whole atmosphere reminded me a lot of my time there, which was a nice reminder of  the amazing time I had there.
We were met with beautiful, lush vegetation and mild warm weather. A large difference form Sydney, which had been going through rather dramatic weather changes.

There's nothing like spending an entire week relaxing at a resort on a tropical island. Whilst we didn't do much exploring off of the grounds of our resort we did get to immerse ourselves in the Fijian lifestyle. Like getting to watch some traditional dances, enjoying local food and drinks and swimming in the crystal clear water that was just outside our room.

I think this holiday was good for both of us. It was a nice little break from home, and a good chance to get away from it all before the craziness of Christmas starts.

I hope you are all having a great holiday season so far. I am off to pack my bags once again and go on a countryside trip to visit my grandparents.

Zoo day.

Tuesday 3 December 2013

Hey everyone,
So this week I did something from my summer to do list. Not that that means I will be crossing the item off the list, considering there is so much more I want to do under that specific point, but I did do a part of it.

So on Monday I visited the zoo, with one of my best friends Ani. I haven't been to the zoo in Sydney in years. I think the last proper day I actually spent there was on an excursion when I was in 7th grade, so its been quite a few years.

Its strange how something that used to entertain me so much as a kid, is still just as fun now that I am 20. But I still had a blast. I love being able to catch the ferry across the harbour and past the harbour bridge to the zoo. And considering I do love seeing animals, I may have just had a little to much fun looking at the animals, as the young kids that were there were.

Best friend with her tiger toy.

We then ducked back into the city for christmasy starbucks and a pinch of shopping, in which I spent more money than I planned, but still got a few good things, which were a last minute collecting for my trip at the end of the week.

So now in two days time I go on my first overseas holiday in five years with my childhood friends, which I am super stoked about.

That's all

Saying goodbye to one thing, and hello to something new.

Wednesday 27 November 2013

Hey guys,

So the end of 2013 is coming and this means the end of something's and the start of new and exciting things. So as of last week I finished something that I have been doing for the last two years, and as sad as that is, I'm a little excited for whatever lies ahead of me next year.

I think that that is the good thing about the end of the year, getting to start new things in the new year. It is an exciting though that I will be doing new things next year.

Saying goodbye.
For the past two years I have been studying at the a small collage with a bunch of the same people there, and now that the end of the year is coming I wont be going beck next year as I am moving to a different place and will be doing things. But the past two years have been great and I have met some awesome people there. I got to make some really god friends with people who are a blast to hang out with, and that will definitely be one of the sad things about leaving next year.

Next year also means that I will be unable to do one thing that I have done every year for the past five or six years. And this kind of makes me sad, it's a place that I have made many friends, but moving away next year also means that I will be unable to do this because I will be so far away that coming back every week would be too hard.

Goodbyes are always hard, but I will keep these memories with me for the rest of my life and also hopefully the friends that I have made there as well.

Fresh starts and hello's.
Starting next year I will be moving down to Melbourne to study at a University down there and that kind of scares me. I have never really lived in a different place, it's been the same house my entire life, in the same suburb. And moving to a different state is a big jump.

But I am still super excited for this opportunity, as it means I get to experience new and different things, and I get to explore(which is something I love doing) a new place. So the excitement overshadows scared feeling. But no matter what I know I will enjoy myself.

Now is merely the time to enjoy life and do as much as I can with the people at home as I can before I leave. Like going to Fiji with my best friend. So I think I'm ready for whatever comes my way.

That's all for now,
xx Kat

Summer to do list.

Saturday 16 November 2013

Hey everyone,

So for us Australian people summer is just around the corner, even thought the weather in Sydney would say otherwise, and I can wait. Whilst I do love winter, summer is also a season I love very much. It means I get to just hop in the car and go to the beach, and spend warm nights out with my friends. But I wanted to come up with a list of things to do this summer. Things that would give me some adventure and a refreshing view on things. So here are a few things on my list.

1. Go to a new place.
2. Go on a grand adventure with one, or more, friends.
3. Discover a new beach that I haven't been to before.
4. Try something new(whether it be food, activity or a new skill)
5. Redecorate my room.
6. Wander around the place I grew up in and discover new things about it.
7. Visit places I haven't been to in a long time/places I used to love as a kid.
8. Road trip somewhere(anywhere)
9. Make the most out of the sunshine.
10. Catch up with friends that I haven't seen in a long time.
11. Take every opportunity I am offered.
12. Make a list of places I would like to go to, that I have never been to before, and go to them.
13. Hop on a train and go somewhere.

So I hope to make this summer memorable and I hope I get to share it with all of you. I hope that I spend my time adventuring and not sitting around with nothing to do. I can't wait for what ever comes next, but I hope its fun and full of things I enjoy.

Until next time,

Procrastination and Creative mind block.

Monday 28 October 2013

Hey guys,
So I haven't blogged in a while. And I'm  not going to lie, it's because I'm super lazy, busy and procrastinating on life. I have had a huge pile of assignments and lists of things to do, and I have pretty much done everything that has a due date the night before. Or in the case of one assignment, the morning of.

I have also been having super writers/creative block. Not only for blogging, but also every other thing that needs me to use my creative parts of my brain (writing a song as an assignment, being one of them).

Things are slowly calming down and I hopefully will get back to normal, and blog more, even though I have only started recently. I hope to blog more. I just really need to get off my butt and get onto it. I will be knocking my procrastination habit to the side (hopefully) and get things done.

Live in the now.

Tuesday 27 August 2013

Hello everybody.

It's strange what thoughts fly through your head in those moments before you fall asleep at night. I, like many others, am one of those people who thinks about almost everything that's ever happened to me, just as I am falling asleep.

It occurred to me last night, in one of those streams of thought, that I let too much of what has happened effect what is happening in this very moment.

So as of this moment I am going to attempt to live in the moment, the now. The past is gone, and no matter how much I want to change the mistakes I have made, or the things I have done. I will never get a chance to re-do them (unless a time machine gets invented in the future).

So that my lesson for today. live in the right here, right now, and forget the mistakes made in the past. You can only move forwards from here on out.

A weekend of sun and surf.

Monday 26 August 2013

Howdy everyone.

So the weekend just gone I was lucky enough to be able to escape the city life, and ventured down the coast to visit my Aunt and Uncle.

We got to spend two days in the sunshine, only a five minute walk from the local beach, we also took our dog along for the ride, considering he loves water and the beach.

This was a nice little break, something I sort of needed considering the large pile of work I have to do, that I left at home. It's nice to every once and a while to get away from everything, including the city and just enjoy the fresh air for a couple of days.

I hope you all had fun and hopefully relaxing weekends as well.

Art Museums and Best Friends

Tuesday 16 July 2013

Hey guys,
so I finally got my computer working properly and can post some things that I have wanted to for a while. My computer was being stubborn and wasn't letting me upload any photos I have taken over the past three months so here goes.

At the end of June my lovely best friend returned from Uni, for her holidays, with a list of things she wanted to do. So we set off one day into the Sydney city to see what we could do.

Sadly the weather was a bit terrible, so we couldn't do much outside, beside get soaked. So we headed towards MCA(the museum of contemporary art) in Sydney's Circular Quay.

Anybody who knows me well enough, knows that you practically have to pull me, by my hair, into any establishment that contains art in Sydney. That's not to say that I wouldn't go to galleries elsewhere. But MCA is very different and slightly more exciting. The one plus side for me.

These were by far my favourite pieces. But the piece below was possibly the coolest thing I saw. Just according to me though.

It's called the Automated Colour Field by Rebecca Baumann (2011).
It is a collection of clocks, which have coloured pieces attached to them. with each tick of the clock and couple of the colours change creating this awesome effect of a wall of colour.
This had me standing there listening to it for a few minutes. It sort of sounded like the crocodile out of Peter Pan.

Pieces of colour and lights and mirrors. All shining brightly. Please note that I took these whilst I was there.

Here is also a shameless selfie.

If you want to check out the other cool pieces they have to offer just go to

After that we had lunch at our most visited restaurant and drank loads of Starbucks.

Beside coming home drenched and tired is was all around an entertaining day.

Four days of a Melbourne adventure

Monday 20 May 2013

I got a mini vacation during the past week from my normal life and my studies, to beautiful Melbourne. The main reason was to see my cousin get his PhD in Philosophy. But also to have a small holiday with my family.

I love Melbourne. It's an amazing place of colour and culture, with many different events and festivals on all year round. I had only recently discovered the wonder that is Melbourne at the beginning of the year when I went to visit my cousin there and house sit for a friend of his.

I can tell you that i was instantly in love with the city and being able to go back was exciting for me.
Not only did I get to go back to a place that I love, I also got to have a few days from my life in Sydney.

So on a sunny wednesday afternoon in Sydney, my mum, aunt, uncle and I hopped on a plane to Melbourne.

Whilst Melbourne was cloudy, cold and raining the whole time we were there it was still rather magnificent.

Beautiful door handles to a amazingly designed building.

A chuch on Fitzroy St St Kilda. I don't actually know what the name of it is.

Melbourne lights up at night. From our hotel room we could see the entire of the Melbourne city sky line.

Albert park.

St Kilda beach and Wharf.

One of the many interesting intersections in Melbourne. Taken from the inside of RMIT university of Swanston St.

We were also lucky enough to see the hollywood costume exhabition, at ACMI(Australian Centre of the Moving Image). Which is a exhabition that has gathered an amazing bunch of costumes from A ton of movies. If you have the chance to go and see this exhabition, do so. Its amazing and the costumes are in stunning shape. I was a little excited about this because they had two costumes from Tim Burton(who is one of my favourite directors) movies. That of a Sweeney Todd costume, and the Catwoman costume from one of the Batman movies he did.

While it was only four days, it was a major adventure, as I got to see more of Melbourne than I did last time. This certainly won't be the last time I will visit the lovely city. And even though it was super cold down there, I still had a blast seeing some parts of Melbourne that I missed last time.

Turning 20

Tuesday 14 May 2013

Times flies in life when you are having fun.
But it's a strange thought to consider that 12 days ago I turned 20. No longer a teenager and finally (more like hopefully) growing out of my teen stages. I never considered 20 as a big thing. It's no major milestone, not an 18th or a 21st. But it is a new era as well. Changes that only come with no longer being classified as a teen.

I was lucky enough to spend my birthday with my family. Then celebrate with a few of my closest friends a week later. It's a great feeling to spent such plesant times with the ones you love.

The party was nothing special. Just a few small things that I threw together last minute. No big bash. Just a small gathering. Minus a few key people in my life(who unfortunatly couldn't make it). But it still meant the world to me.

Spending a few hours with these lovely people certainly made my night. These guys are so important to me and I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for these guys.
Note the onesie craziness, that's actually quite normal for us.
Also the tasty home made cupcake.

I wouldn't have wanted to spend a day like that any other way. And it proves that great people do exist in the world.
