The Things That Make Me Happy.

Friday, 6 March 2015

Sometimes everyone needs a little pick me up, so today I thought I would write you guys a list of things that make me feel happy. Considering that today I am feeling a little low, I am hoping that this also brightens up my own day.

-The smell and sound of rain.
- Cute animals.
- Curling up under a big cozy blanket and reading.
- Hot cups of tea.
- Lists.
- Mango gelato.
- Walking in the rain.
- Pillow forts.
- Wandering aimlessly.
- Christmas socks.
- Craft.
- Watching the rain from my window.
- Trying new recipes.
- Endless hours on pintrest.
- Listening to podcasts while doing work.
- That feeling when inspiration strikes.

What are some of the things that make you happy??

St Kilda adventure.

Sunday, 6 April 2014

Hey guys,
Today I went on a little adventure, the first of it's kind this time round, to one of my favourite places in Melbourne, St Kilda. I mainly did this because I have a photography assignment due this coming week and thought St Kilda would be a good place to take photos. But the main reason is because I love it there.
I took with me my trusted bag, full of things to explore with, and my camera loaded with 35mm film, yes that's that old school stuff. And ventured off into the sunshine.

Armed with my bag I hopped on the tram and hoped not to get lost. This was my first time going to St Kilda from this direction of Melbourne, so I figured that I would most likely get lost. Which I did. I had to switch trams half way, and didn't know which side of the road the other tram stopped at. So I missed it. But the good thing was that this was the only hick-up of the day.

Eventually I got to St Kilda and got to enjoy it in the sun.
I walked along the beach and slowly made my way along my favourite markets, gazing at the wonders that were being sold, but not being able to buy much, besides a ring from a stall I love and some carmel fudge.

I managed to get everything I needed for my assignment, as well as enjoy being back there, for the first time this year.

I then had to meet up with  my cousin in the city, so I hopped on another tram and headed into the city, stopping at south bank. I walked along the river and enjoyed the sun and the general atmosphere of the area. And met my cousin at a cut little restaurant under a bridge, where we ate food and caught up.

This is one thing that I love about living in Melbourne. Things like this, and days like these.

March matters.

Thursday, 20 March 2014

Hey guys,
Sorry it's been a while, things have been a bit crazy and I haven't had much time to just sit down and write anything other than school work. But I am taking this time now to do some house keeping for March. I have a few ideas and things that I hope to blog this month. So I am going to try harder.

1. Blog more
At the beginning of the year I promised myself that I would blog more and that hasn't quite happened yet, so now is as good as anytime to fix that. I plan on blogging a tone more from here on out, no matter what it is about.

2. Notice the ground you walk on
This month I will have been taking a photo everyday of the ground beneath my feet. This was a little challenge I set myself, so at the end of this month I will be making a post with all of those pictures. So that should be 31 days worth of pictures. I would like to do something like this every month, I will just have to figure out a topic every month.

3. Adventure more
I haven't really had a chance top do much wondering since moving here, so I hope that I get that chance soon. When that happens I hope to share it with you guys.

4. Work hard
I never had a good ethic towards learning at high school, so I hope to change that here. I haven't let myself slip behind just yet, So heres hoping that doesn't change. I plan on working my butt off through the next three years of my study. So fingers crossed.

5. Be healthy
Here's another thing I have never been particularly good at, so I plan on changing that.

6. Say yes
This ties in with the adventure more rule. I usually say no to a lot of things, it's just the way I have always been, but the time has come to change that. I am going to push myself into say yes to more things. So I get the chance to experience more things.

So there are a few goals I hope to work towards this month/year.

My happy place.

Friday, 21 February 2014

Hey guys,
I am not one for change, I really don't enjoy doing anything that varies from my usual routine, or how things are at the present point in time. Which is why I decided that before I head off to University, I would give my bedroom at home a much needed do over.
I have always lived in this room, But it has had the same coat of paint, on its walls, since I was about 7 years old. So it most certainly needed a new coat of paint, and even go remodelled in the process.

I spent a good week and a half, putting in the hard work that is repainting a room, and then another two days moving furniture around my room. Until I was happy with it's outcome.

My room has always been a safe heaven for me. A happy place where I can do my own thing, without being judged or watched over, so finding the right balance was important.

Having grown up in one room, it means that I am most comfortable there. It's where I currently feel at peace with myself. It also means all of my nick nack's are in one place, taking pride on my mantle and on many other surfaces around the room.

It''s important to find that happy place, a place where comfort takes control of all you emotions. And whilst I may not be an interior designer, I feel that it is decorated to the level that makes me happy, which is the most important thing.

I thought I would share this with you, before I embark on my new chapter. Living on campus for a majority of the year. At least I know that I have all this to come back to when I return for visits and holidays. It will always be one of my happy places, no matter where I am in the future.

That's all for today. Tomorrow I officially leave Sydney and head off to Uni. I still have to finish packing, which is my least favourite parts. Until next time.
xx Kat
