It's a new year.

Monday, 11 January 2016

Holy crap, it's a new year. I can hardly believe that 2015 has ended and 2016 has begun. I know I am a little slow on the new years post, but I just needed to get myself to sit down and write this out.

In a way I am glad that 2015 is over. It means that all the bad things that happened last year can be washed away and all the good times can be remember fondly. Its also a time for change and to begin being a new person, to better myself.

So in the idea of changing for a new year, and bettering oneself, I thought I would share some of my goals for the new year with you all.

1. Read more new books
2. Say YES to more opportunities
3. Write more/blog more
4. Learn to enjoy life for the little things and appreciate them
5. Be more creative in everything I do
6. Make healthier life choices for myself
7. See more of the world
8. Try something new every week
9. Learn new and interesting things
10. Be positive

Hopefully I will be able to stick to these and make life more enjoyable and fun for myself as the year goes on.

This year is a rather important one for me. It is my last year of university (yikes) and that means that I need to get myself organised and figure out what I am going to do with myself when I leave the comfort of university. Creating and finding opportunities for myself and my future. Which is an idea that scares me more than I sometimes would like to admit.

I also plan on making some changes here, and I know thats not the first time I have said that, but this time I plan on keeping that promise. I have a couple of regular post ideas that I would like to start doing monthly and sometimes even more often than that. Things that I want to be able to keep up and continue on as the months go by. In the aim of furthering this blog a little.

I want to be able to share  more exciting things with you guys this year, and getting myself more out there.

I hope you guys are ready for what lies ahead, and I hope that the year that lies ahead of us, is an exciting one at that.

June/July photo round up

Tuesday, 25 August 2015

Now that August is almost over I find it almost pointless for me to blog about things that happened in June/July and give them their own blog. I know I have been kinda slack.

So I thought that I would put some of the photos I took up on the blog, even though they are not getting their own post. Just because they are getting in the way, and if I don't post them now I probably won't ever.

Here is a quick round up of things that I did in June/ July that would have had their own posts at the time, but don't now because I have forgotten what happened most days.

Enjoy!

Taco Tuesday
My all time favourite Mexican restaurant opened up an establishment here in Melbourne, and I was super excited about it. So we headed out to The Beached Burrito Company in Fitzroy and enjoyed some marvellous tacos.

The 10 hour drive
Heading back to Sydney by car takes a hell of a lot of time. Luckily I had a good friend with me and we passed the time by having a massive singalong to Taylor Swift (our personal queen) for the entire trip.

Some pretty skies
Early morning winter skies on my drive to work.

Return to Melbourne
Once again the long drive, accompanied by my wonderful uncle and aunt.

Can you tell I like nature shots.

Footscray Community Arts Centre
Visiting my cousin at work and stumbling upon their current (at the time) exhibition called What Lies Buried Rises. Which was a beautiful collection for NAIDOC week at the centre.

A festival that celebrates projection art. Using familiar buildings of the street and projecting art pieces on them.

Hopefully from this point on I will be more up to date with my posts and won't log a large collection of picture meant to go up, but not actually going up when intended.

Do you hear the people sing? with Les Miserables

Saturday, 22 August 2015

It no secret at all that I am a musical theatre fan, just go back to my post about Wicked from last year, to see how much so. They are something that I adore more than life and something that I spend way to much of my free time thinking (and jamming out to) than I would like to admit.

So when I FINALLY!! got the chance to see Les Mis in Sydney I died on the inside.

This was one of the few musicals that I have always wanted to see live, it's a musical that is in my top 5 favourite shows, even though I hadn't seen it live until this year.

I am such a big fangirl about this musical. I love almost everything thing about it, and constantly have the songs stuck in my head. So when I got tickets to go and see it for my birthday with my beautiful mother and aunt I was over the moon.

Seeing it live on stage lives up to expectation, much better than watching the 25th anniversary and movie version on my computer. Even though I have a total girl crush on Samantha Barks, who was in both of those versions. Seeing it live in front of my own eyes was magical.

Also the cast that they had were amazing and so very talented.

It's such a powerful musical and is so glorious to watch.

What is your favourite musical? and have you gotten to see it live?

Let's play catch up: The best friend visits.

Monday, 27 July 2015

Hey guys,

So my next couple of posts are going to be a catch up sort of thing. Whilst I was drowning I took photos of things that I wanted to share with you guys, but never got around to putting them up online.

So lets get started!!!

I was lucky enough to have my best friend since preschool, come visit me in Melbourne and drive back to Sydney with me for my holidays.

She hadn't been to Melbourne in a few years, so I got to show her around the area I live and around the awesome city that I now call home.

It was awesome seeing things I had seen before with new eyes and even finding some really interesting things around the city that I had never seen before. It was like discovering the city all over again for the first time.

We had no real plans for this day, just wondering around the city and seeing what we could find (and what we could buy *cough* H&M sesh *cough*)

Airport waiting.

We drooled over cakes in windows, walked down lanes full of adventure and found some interesting looking shops and cafes.

My personal favourite being 'The Haunted Bookshop', a place that I want to go back to and explore.

We walked down the many lanes filled with graffiti, whilst admiring the many different pieces of, interesting, art on their walls.

Friendship goals achieved.

What I love about this city is its uniqueness. It has a strange individuality to it that makes me want to create and explore it further. Showing someone new to it all was wonderful, seeing them find all of the hidden gems that this city holds.

What is your favourite city and why? Mine is obviously, so far, this one.

Failure.

Friday, 22 May 2015

A word that has become one that is used a lot by myself, to myself, about myself. With me uncertainty being a major player in how my brain works, the word failure gets thrown around a lot, and somedays even gets the best of me.

That's what has been happening to me over the past two weeks, I started May Madness with a strong heart and plans of completion in perfect timing this year, but I was wrong. My doubts got the better of me, which is why there has been so few posts so far in May.

But I want to say that failure shouldn't be getting you down, to be fair I probably shouldn't be preaching that, I am the biggest victim of the thought of failure. But that changes now. I will hopefully over the last week of May left this year, complete May Madness and by the 31st there should be 29-31 posts just like I promised.

I hope you are all feeling well.

Dance it out

Sunday, 17 May 2015

With being a self confessed stress head , I have picked up a few ways of de-stressing over the years. One of my all time favourites is dancing it out.

I usually do this when I am home alone, so I can dance without anyone watching and like I don't care at all. I just find some songs on Itunes that I feel like dancing to at that particular point in time, and just go for it.

This seems to make the stress fade away and also builds up a bit of a sweat, creating the perfect relaxing moment and getting in a bit of a workout.

My tips for dancing it out:
- Drink water in between, helps replace whatever you have sweated out and keeps you hydrated.
- Keep it safe and try to avoid injury, something that I am not good at, but I do try.
- Find the music that really makes you want to dance, for me its mostly musicals.
- Dance like you don't have a care in the world.
- You don't have to be good at dancing, just go with the flow and what feels right.

What are some songs that you can't help but dance to?

April Favourites 2015

Tuesday, 5 May 2015

So this is a new type of frequent blog post I would like to start doing. These are possibly on of my favourite blog posts to read and vlogs to watch. I can't exactly tell you why though because I don't even know myself.

So here are my favourites for the month of April.

Decor:

Back to the Future and 17th Century World Map

I instantly fell in love with these two poster when I saw them at a Blue Dog poster sale and couldn't help by buy them. I have been a huge fan of the Back to the Future series since I was a kid and I have a fascination with old worldly things, such as maps and cultures.

Beauty:

Breath of Fresh Air toner water from Lush

I have really been trying new products lately, trying to find what works well for my skin, and this product really works for me. I am a huge fan of Lush products, so it is nice that I have found one that I really like and that works well on y skin.

Kiehl's Lip Balm #1

I have been carrying this with me everywhere since the moment I first tried it. I love how it protects my lips and how soft it makes them feel.

Shoes:

Brown Lace up boots from Kmart

I need a cheep but comfy pair of boots, in preparation for winter and these ones are exactly what I was looking for.

TV:

iZombie

It's no secret that I am a huge fan of Rob Thomas (the producer) that I had to just give this show a go and like many other things that Rob Thomas has done, I have been loving it. Its a good solid mix of comedy and drama, with a cool supernatural element mixed, definitely one of my top shows that have come out this year.

Movie:

Cinderella

Lets be honest I am a huge Disney fan and this was done spectacularly.

Clothes:

Bonded Hoodie from Cotton On Body

One of the comfiest jumpers I own, this was an impulse by as I was out and it started to get cold, but I am actually glad I bought it.

Thats all for this months favourites, what are some of your favourite things from the month of April?
